UN Chief Urges Calm as Airstrikes Hit Syria, Over a Million Displaced

Hey everyone! 🌍 The UN's top guy, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, is seriously worried about what's going down in Syria. He's urging everyone to take a chill pill and de-escalate the violence that's been rocking the country lately.

His spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, spilled the tea on Thursday, saying, \"The Secretary-General is particularly concerned over the hundreds of Israeli airstrikes on several locations in Syria.\" 😱 Guterres is pushing for an urgent cooldown on all fronts across Syria.

The big concern is the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement, which seems to be under threat. Guterres wants all parties to stick to the rules, avoid any sneaky moves in the separation area, and keep things stable in the Golan Heights.

But here's the kicker: The Israel Defense Forces announced they've \"severely damaged\" Syria's air defenses, claiming to have destroyed over 90% of key missile systems. 🚁✈️ They've been launching coordinated strikes, targeting Syria's strategic weapons and air bases.

All this action has caused a massive humanitarian crisis. Since the fighting ramped up two weeks ago, over 1.1 million people have had to flee their homes in Syria. 😔 The UN's humanitarian office says there are reports of food and fuel shortages, too.

Despite the chaos, the UN and its partners are hustling to help out. They've managed to get food to more than 700,000 people in northwest Syria, even with all the challenges on the ground. 🙏

Let's hope for some peace soon so that everyone can start rebuilding their lives. 🕊️
