On December 19th, Maryland was buzzing with excitement as over 100 attendees joined the 2023 Anhui Culture and Tourism Promotion event! 🎉 Hosted by the Friendship Delegation from Anhui province, the event was all about building bridges and making global connections.
Among the guests were Minister Jing Quan from the Chinese Embassy in the United States, Maryland's Senator Clarence Lam, reps from the American business community, and enthusiastic teachers and students from the University of Maryland. Talk about squad goals! 🌟
Everyone got to dive into a fusion of cultures with interactive tea art sessions ☕️✨ and a vibrant performance by UMD students showcasing Eastern and Western beverages. It was a cultural mashup that had everyone engaged and energized!
Anhui and Maryland have been sister regions since 1980, making them OGs in the sister-state game! 👫 Sun Yong, Deputy Provincial Governor of Anhui, highlighted their 43-year strong friendship, calling it an amazing story of cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and the U.S.
Minister Jing emphasized that the event captures the spirit of the recent China-U.S. leaders' meeting in San Francisco 🌉. He shared that China is eager to boost people-to-people exchanges by increasing flights 🛫, simplifying visa processes 🛂, and promoting tourism and interactions at all levels.
Senator Clarence Lam expressed his excitement about the rich history and achievements between Maryland and Anhui. He's all in for deepening cooperation in culture, tourism, and education. Big things are coming! 🚀
