Travel Troubles: DPP Authorities Blamed for Cross-Strait Obstacles 🚧

Hey there, fellow news enthusiasts! 🌏 Ever wondered what's up with the travel vibes between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan region? Let's dive in!

On Friday, Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, pointed fingers at the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities, saying they're the ones putting obstacles on the cross-Strait travel path. 🚧

According to Chen, since 2020, the DPP authorities have been using the COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse to ban mainland residents from visiting Taiwan and have prohibited local travel agencies from organizing group tours to the mainland. 😷✈️

Despite the COVID storm calming down, the DPP authorities are still turning a blind eye to the pleas from the tourism industry and the Taiwan people to lift the travel restrictions. They even raised the alert level for Taiwan residents traveling to the mainland! 😮

Chen emphasized that the mainland is ready to take positive steps to boost residents' travel to Taiwan, as long as the DPP authorities stop throwing up roadblocks. 🛣️

In a move earlier this year, the mainland resumed allowing residents of Fujian Province to travel to Kinmen and Mazu. As of October 31, mainland immigration authorities had processed 58,735 travel permit applications to these islands. 🏝️

Looks like travel between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan region could get a lot smoother if obstacles are cleared. Fingers crossed! 🤞
