Bulambuli district commissioner, Faheera Mpalanyi, shared the devastating update, saying, \"We lost about 30 people.\" So far, six bodies have been recovered, including that of a baby.
The community is in shock, and the number of missing persons could rise. \"Given the devastation and the size of the area affected, several people are missing and probably buried in the debris,\" Mpalanyi added.
The prime minister's office reported that around 20 homes might have been swept away. They issued a disaster alert on X (formerly known as Twitter), saying, \"Heavy rains on Wednesday in parts of Uganda have led to disaster situations in many areas.\" 🌧️
Uganda has been facing intense rains lately. In the northwest, a tributary of the Nile River burst its banks, leading to floods and emergency teams scrambling to rescue stranded motorists. 🚤
