😢 Heartbreak in Beirut: Saturday turned tragic as Israeli air strikes claimed the lives of over 55 people across Lebanon, shaking the nation's core.
In the vibrant heart of Beirut, the bustling Basta neighborhood faced devastation. A residential building was reduced to rubble, leaving at least 20 dead and 66 wounded, according to Lebanon's Health Ministry.
\"We saw two dead people on the ground… The children started crying and their mother cried even more,\" shared Samir, 60, a neighbor who witnessed the chaos unfold.
As if straight out of a nightmare, more strikes followed in the city's southern suburbs after evacuation calls from the Israeli military. While Israel remained silent on the central Beirut attack, they stated hitting Hezbollah targets in the south.
The Israeli military announced, \"Over the past week, the air force struck dozens of Hezbollah command centers, weapons storage facilities, and terrorist infrastructure in the Dahieh area.\"
Rumors swirled about the central Beirut strike targeting a top Hezbollah figure, but Hezbollah politician Amin Sherri denied any officials were present during the attack.
Eastern Lebanon wasn't spared either. The Health Ministry reported 24 deaths, including 13 in Shmostar overlooking the picturesque Bekaa Valley, a known Hezbollah stronghold.
Down south, the coastal city of Tyre mourns, with at least 14 people killed.
This wave of violence has left Lebanon reeling. Our hearts go out to all affected. 💔
