Record-Breaking Participation Expected at 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin ❄️

The 2025 Asian Winter Games are gearing up to be the biggest yet! Harbin, nestled in the northeast of China's Heilongjiang Province, is set to host a record 34 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) from February 7 to 14, 2025. 🏅

Heavyweights like China, Japan, and South Korea are bringing their A-game by competing in all sports. Alpine skiing is stealing the spotlight with registrations from 25 NOCs. Not far behind, short track speed skating and figure skating have 21 teams ready to glide onto the ice. Cross-country skiing and snowboarding are also buzzing, with 18 and 16 NOCs registered respectively.

This edition of the Games, approved by the Olympic Council of Asia, will showcase six sports, 11 disciplines, and a thrilling total of 64 events. What's got everyone talking are the debuts of mixed doubles curling, ski mountaineering, and synchronized aerials of freestyle skiing! ⛷️🌀

Bai Zhiguo, Deputy Secretary-General of the Asian Winter Games Organizing Committee and Director of the Harbin Sports Bureau, shared that events will be split between Harbin and the picturesque Yabuli Town, about 193 kilometers away. Harbin will be the hub for ice sports, while Yabuli Ski Resort will host the snow sports enthusiasts.

The venues are getting a fresh makeover! Upgrades are in full swing for cooling, dehumidification, lighting, heating, networking, and other facilities. The Harbin Ice Hockey Arena and ski mountaineering facilities in Yabuli are already shining and ready. The rest? They're on track to be completed by the end of September. 🎯
