Nigerian Floods Leave 30 Dead, Force 400,000 from Homes 😢

🌧️ The city of Maiduguri, Nigeria, is facing one of its worst disasters in decades! Severe flooding has tragically taken the lives of at least 30 people and left over 400,000 residents without homes.

According to officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), water from an overflowing dam swept through the northeastern city, causing widespread devastation. \"The death toll is 30,\" NEMA spokesman Ezekiel Manzo told AFP.

\"The situation in Maiduguri is quite frightening,\" echoed NEMA colleague Zubaida Umar. \"The flood has taken over around 40% of the entire city. People have been forced out of their homes and are scattered everywhere.\"

Reports suggest that the number of displaced people could reach one million! 😱 The UN refugee agency in Nigeria stated on X (formerly Twitter) that this is the worst flooding to hit the city in 30 years.

As the waters continue to rise, communities are rallying together to support those affected. Rescue teams are working tirelessly, but the sheer scale of the disaster is overwhelming.

Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by this disaster. Stay tuned for updates as the situation unfolds, and let's hope for brighter days ahead for Maiduguri. 🙏
