🏊♂️ Sun Yang is back! After a three-year hiatus, the three-time Olympic champion made a triumphant return to the pool at China's 2024 Summer National Swimming Championships.
On Sunday, Sun Yang advanced to the men's 400-meter freestyle final, clocking an impressive 3 minutes and 54.98 seconds. Representing Zhejiang Province, he topped his heat and showed he's still got the magic touch.
Sun Yang had been suspended in 2020, but as of May 28th, he became eligible to compete again. His comeback was hinted when his studio posted on social media: \"Exceed yourself. Be a fearless swimmer.\"
The Summer National Swimming Championships, held from August 25-28 in Hefei, east China's Anhui Province, is a Class B national swimming event, second only to the National Swimming Championships in prestige.
Wang Wei, director of the Zhejiang Provincial Swimming Sports Management Center, mentioned that Zhejiang sent a youth-dominated squad of 59 members to the competition, excluding Paris 2024 Olympians Wang Shun and Pan Zhanle.
