Last month, the China-Vietnam freight train service, which rolls out from south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, broke records by shipping 1,922 TEU containers of goods. That's more than the total shipment volume for the first quarter of 2024! 📦🚂
Since its launch in 2017, this train service has been on a wild ride, starting with less than five trains a month to becoming a bustling hub of trade between the two nations. Yang Bo, a logistics director at a freight company in Guangxi, exclaimed, \"I've been in the cross-border rail trade for five years, and trade exchanges between China and Vietnam are way more active this year!\" 🚀
On Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, expressed China's readiness to collaborate with Vietnam to boost both \"hard connectivity\" like railways and ports, and \"soft connectivity\" like smart customs. He emphasized building a secure and stable industrial and supply chain between the two countries. 🤝
Xi made these remarks during his talks with To Lam, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and Vietnamese president, at the iconic Great Hall of the People in Beijing. 🏛️
At this pivotal moment of national development and revitalization, Xi highlighted six key areas for China and Vietnam to focus on: higher political mutual trust, stronger security cooperation, deeper practical collaboration, enhanced public support, closer multilateral coordination, and better management and resolution of differences. 💪
To Lam agreed, stating that his party and government are committed to deepening the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and advancing the building of a community with a shared future that holds strategic significance for both countries. 🌟
