In a move that could shake up the global stage 🌍, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for China and Russia to unite and strengthen the Global South.
Speaking via video link at the China-Russia High-level Think Tank Forum on Thursday, Wang Yi emphasized that both nations should \"lead global governance with action and responsibility.\"
\"China and Russia should firmly safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law,\" Wang said. He encouraged both countries to boost multilateral coordination, promote a multipolar world, and embrace true multilateralism 🌐.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the importance of mutual support 🤝. \"We should support each other, adhere to open cooperation, and learn from each other,\" he noted.
Emphasizing principles of non-alliance and non-confrontation, Wang stressed that China and Russia should not target any third party and should deepen political mutual trust.
The China-Russia High-level Think Tank Forum, co-hosted by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Russian International Affairs Council, has been an annual event since 2018. This year's forum focused on China-Russia cooperation in the new era and marked the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries 🎉.
